Your adventure begins at our Moose Pass base for a quick check-in and orientation. Then, guests caravan in their own vehicles for a short 5-minute drive to the trailhead—where the real adventure begins!

Breathtaking Scenery – Trek a 3.2-mile trail surrounded by lush forests, crystal-clear Vagt Lake, and towering peaks of the Kenai Peninsula. This accessible trail offers stunning views without the strenuous effort.

 

Rich Alaska History – Walk in the footsteps of Alaska’s pioneers and gold miners as your guide shares stories of the region’s indigenous people, homesteaders, and the famous Iditarod National Historic Trail.

 

Wildlife Spotting – Keep your eyes open for moose, black bears, bald eagles, and more. Your guide will help interpret signs of wildlife and share tips for spotting them safely from a distance.

 

Guided Safety in Bear Country – Feel confident hiking Alaska’s wilderness with an experienced guide who’s trained in bear safety, carries bear spray, and knows how to navigate wildlife encounters while keeping the group safe.

Where

Meet at our Moose Pass Adventures base for check-in, orientation, and gear check. You’ll then follow your guide in your own vehicle for a short 5-minute drive to the trailhead (free parking available at both locations).

Please Note: Transportation to the trailhead is not included. The benefit? You’re free to continue your Alaska adventure directly from the trailhead—no need to backtrack!

Other Details

This trail is a moderate, out-and-back 3.2 mile round trip trail. Restrooms are available at base, but not on the trail. While our minimum age is 5+ on this tour, guests should understand that this is 2.5 hour group tour consisting of physical activity into a wilderness setting. Feel free to call us to discuss if you are not sure if your kiddo is up for this.
