Kayak Adventure in Moose Pass
From Seward, we’ll travel to Moose Pass, a charming town nestled in the heart of the Chugach Mountains. Here, you’ll enjoy an included kayak tour on the stunning glacial waters of Trail Lake, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. After your paddle, explore this quaint town and enjoy lunch on your own. Whether you’re craving a latte, a sandwich, or a treat from the local fudge shop, you’ll have time to savor the local flavors before continuing your adventure.
Breathtaking Views Through Turnagain Pass
Next, we’ll ascend through Turnagain Pass, part of the Kenai Mountains Turnagain Arm National Heritage Area. This stretch of road features towering mountains, glaciers, and alpine meadows, offering stunning vistas at every turn.
Encounter Alaska’s Wildlife Up Close
Our next stop is the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC), located just outside Girdwood. This sanctuary provides care and conservation for Alaska’s injured and orphaned wildlife. Here, you’ll meet iconic species such as muskox, bears, and wolves as you explore the 1.5-mile loop. AWCC’s dedication to preserving Alaska’s wildlife makes it a must-see highlight of the trip.
A Scenic Finish in Anchorage
As we continue around the Turnagain Arm, keep your eyes peeled for bald eagles, moose, and maybe even beluga whales as we hug the coastline of this remarkable waterway. The journey concludes as we drive into Anchorage, capping of a day filled with adventure, stunning views, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
